John Fund on Voter Fraud

John Fund cites the many opportunities for voter fraud. Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner is encouraging this type of fraud in Ohio. Fund’s analysis seems to be right on the mark.

Obama and Biden Replace Hope with Desperate Attacks on McCain

Chuck Todd has lost all credibility. He is desperately cheering on Obama despite polling data to the obvious opposite. He and kooky Keith Olbermann are trying to make a lot of the “bad economic news” and creating a new story-line for Obama. There has been some talk that Chuck Todd would be the replacement for Tim Russert’s political exepertise. Please! Chuck Todd couldn’t hold up Russert’s socks.

NBC is desperate. Kooky Keith is very, very desperate. Obama and Biden are even more desperate.

Hey, folks, the hope is gone from The Messiah’s campaign.  They broomed it.  No more hope. No more change.  Change is real; change is now, all that’s gone.  Now they’re in full-fledged panic mode and Obama is simply a standard Democrat Party hack candidate.  Biden is the same.  Biden was just in Michigan someplace giving a speech complaining that Bush didn’t work with Democrats.  Ha!  He promised the new tone. He promised to work with Democrats. He didn’t work with Democrats.  Lie after lie after lie.  Biden was up there ripping the US economy, comments about which are coming up very quickly, was ripping the US military, says the country is more polarized than at any time he’s of seen in his career.  I wonder why that might be.  Greetings, friends.

There is a lot of panic on the left. Check out the Olberman Watch. Even New York might be in play.

Why does Olby use the Bach Toccata  in D Minor to haunt his diatribe of worst person in the world?

Panic Sets in for Obama, the Democrats, and the Media

Today’s Carnival of the Insanities is Classic!

The Atlanta Journal Constitution, the New York Times of the South, has published a piece saying that Obama knows the campaign is slipping away. This fact must be a shock to the media elite and all of those liberals who thought that this election was a sure thing. I wonder how many democrats think that they should have gone with Hillary? The left is throwing everything at Palin, and that certainly isn’t working. Charlie Gibson’s interview turned out to be another left-wing smear.

Barack Obama knows it. The election he had in the bag is slipping away.

The selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate has so thrown him off stride, as it has most other Democrats, that all the momentum he had has vanished. He’s getting panicky advice from everywhere. He intends to launch more and sharper attacks, abandoning any pretense of a new and different, more civil campaign.

Democrats know something, and desperation is setting in. They have a novice campaigner who wanders off message. With every advantage in the primaries, Obama couldn’t win the big states — New York, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania — against Hillary Clinton, even when he got to define the rules for running against him. She could never risk alienating the base she’ll need in 2012; John McCain and Sarah Palin have no such constraints — hence the panic.

For a “change” candidate, Obama appears to be a man locked in time, unable to move past criticism, unable to move from the grip of the Democratic left, unable to adapt to the changed reality that the campaign is not the referendum on the war in Iraq or on the administration of George W. Bush that he’d envisioned.

Nomination for Carnival of the Insanities: Antioch Tries to the Keep the “DNA Alive”

I’m sorry, but this story about kooks from Antioch trying to “keep the DNA alive” demonstrates unbelievable ignorance. A university does not have DNA! You can’t charge money for something that represents the patchwork “educational pursuits”  of leftist kooks. They are even claiming that they are “homeless” which is one step ahead of begging for a government hand-out.

I am reminded of two statements of Ronald Reagan: “The state of California has no business subsidizing intellectual curiosity.” And the pointedly appropriate: “What we have found in this country, and maybe we’re more aware of it now, is one problem that we’ve had, even in the best of times, and that is the people who are sleeping on the grates, the homeless who are homeless, you might say, by choice.”

Don’t get me wrong, it is America. They are free to do as they wish. And we are free to comment on the kooky nature of this woodstock of the midwest.

In a wood-paneled basement filled with boxes of nuts, bolts and screws, a college journalism class is under way.

Naked wooden beams and ductwork hang overhead. The instructor’s voice competes with the sound of the furnace, which kicks on from time to time.

This makeshift classroom is part of a patchwork of homes, churches and offices in southwest Ohio cobbled together to form the “Nonstop Liberal Arts Institute,” spawned by former professors of the now-defunct Antioch College, which closed earlier this year amid financial problems.

Professors launched the institute this week to preserve the school’s spirit and maintain its core of teachers.

“We want to keep the DNA alive,” said Scott Warren, former associate professor of philosophy. “We want to keep the soul moving until we get the campus back.”

Another (More Appropriate) Pig Analogy

Barbara Walters just took the final step over into total stupidity. She and her gal pals on The View  staged a liberal ambush of John and Cindy McCain, and used the bimbos in the studio audience as stooges. Joy Behar, Whoppi Goldberg, and Barbara WaWa, took turns throwing out liberal catch phrases, buzz words, and lies.

McCain’s appearance on the View brings up another pig analogy: if you get in a wrestling match with a pig, you both get dirty and the pig loves it. Just to be clear: the women of The View behaved like pigs!

Charlie Gibson’s Gaffe

The Obama campaign is imploding. They love to talk about Sarah, and they are desperate to misrepresent her statements and John McCain.

Leave it to the brilliant Charles Krauthammer to “school” Charlie Gibson on the “Bush Doctrine.” Gibson’s snotty first interview with Governor Palin was full of little Gibson gaffe’s.

The New York Times got it wrong. And Charlie Gibson got it wrong.

There is no single meaning of the Bush doctrine. In fact, there have been four distinct meanings, each one succeeding another over the eight years of this administration — and the one Charlie Gibson cited is not the one in common usage today. It is utterly different.

He asked Palin, “Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?”

She responded, quite sensibly to a question that is ambiguous, “In what respect, Charlie?”

Sensing his “gotcha” moment, Gibson refused to tell her. After making her fish for the answer, Gibson grudgingly explained to the moose-hunting rube that the Bush doctrine “is that we have the right of anticipatory self-defense.”

Wrong…

…Presidential doctrines are inherently malleable and difficult to define. The only fixed “doctrines” in American history are the Monroe and the Truman doctrines which come out of single presidential statements during administrations where there were few other contradictory or conflicting foreign policy crosscurrents.

Such is not the case with the Bush doctrine.

Yes, Sarah Palin didn’t know what it is. But neither does Charlie Gibson. And at least she didn’t pretend to know — while he looked down his nose and over his glasses with weary disdain, sighing and “sounding like an impatient teacher,” as the Times noted. In doing so, he captured perfectly the establishment snobbery and intellectual condescension that has characterized the chattering classes’ reaction to the mother of five who presumes to play on their stage.

9-11: Looking Back on Obama and McCain

A very interesting post at Protein Wisdom. Here’s how Obama reacted in 2001 and and how McCain reacted. It’s interesting how much these statements reveal about the two candidates.

Looking back to that horrible day, seven years ago:

We must also engage, however, in the more difficult task of understanding the sources of such madness. The essence of this tragedy, it seems to me, derives from a fundamental absence of empathy on the part of the attackers: an inability to imagine, or connect with, the humanity and suffering of others. Such a failure of empathy, such numbness to the pain of a child or the desperation of a parent, is not innate; nor, history tells us, is it unique to a particular culture, religion, or ethnicity. It may find expression in a particular brand of violence, and may be channeled by particular demagogues or fanatics. Most often, though, it grows out of a climate of poverty and ignorance, helplessness and despair.–Barack Obama, Hyde Park Herald,/i> Sept. 19, 2001.

“This is obviously an act of war that has been committed on the United States”

John McCain, September 12, 2001

One last reminder: Osama bin Laden? Pretty wealthy. So to “connect with” his “suffering” would have meant empathizing with his desire for a new Caliphate and a return of pan-Arabism — while pretending that the wealthy educated Arabs behind modern radical Islamism are victims of poverty, helplessness, and despair, instead of noticing that they are modern-day megalomaniacs and wannabe prophets acting out of a desire to undermine the ideological sway of western liberalism.

Food for thought, at the very least — and an insight into the worldviews espoused by the presidential candidates for 2008.

Read it, Believe it! McCain 54%, Obama 44% (It’s likely voters)

In this USA Today article, it seems that the authors buried the lead…look below in bold. Are they are afraid to report this news? Be reminded that this poll is of likely voters-not registered voters-a much more reliable poll at this point. If this poll were reversed, it would be the lead story on MSNBC, CNN, and the New York Times. We’ll see if this is reported today. As of Sunday, CNN was saying that there was no McCain/Palin bounce coming out of their convention.
WASHINGTON — The Republican National Convention has given John McCain and his party a significant boost, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll taken over the weekend shows, as running mate Sarah Palin helps close an “enthusiasm gap” that has dogged the GOP all year.

McCain leads Democrat Barack Obama by 50%-46% among registered voters, the Republican’s biggest advantage since January and a turnaround from the USA TODAY poll taken just before the convention opened in St. Paul. Then, he lagged by 7 percentage points.

CONVENTION: GOP rejuvenated

The convention bounce has helped not only McCain but also attitudes toward Republican congressional candidates and the GOP in general.

“The Republicans had a very successful convention and, at least initially, the selection of Sarah Palin has made a big difference,” says political scientist Larry Sabato of the University of Virginia. “He’s in a far better position than his people imagined he would be in at this point.”

However, in an analysis of the impact of political conventions since 1960, Sabato concluded that post-convention polls signal the election’s outcome only about half the time. “You could flip a coin and be about as predictive,” he says. “It is really surprising how quickly convention memories fade.”

McCain has narrowed Obama’s wide advantage on handling the economy, by far the electorate’s top issue. Before the GOP convention, Obama was favored by 19 points; now he’s favored by 3.

The Republican’s ties to President Bush remains a vulnerability. In the poll, 63% say they are concerned he would pursue policies too similar to those of the current president. Bush’s approval rating is 33%.

In the new poll, taken Friday through Sunday, McCain leads Obama by 54%-44% among those seen as most likely to vote. The survey of 1,022 adults, including 959 registered voters, has a margin of error of +/— 3 points for both samples.

Among the findings:

• Before the convention, Republicans by 47%-39% were less enthusiastic than usual about voting. Now, they are more enthusiastic by 60%-24%, a sweeping change that narrows a key Democratic advantage. Democrats report being more enthusiastic by 67%-19%.

• Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a national unknown before McCain chose her for the ticket 10 days ago, draws a strong reaction from voters on both sides. Now, 29% say she makes them more likely to vote for McCain, 21% less likely.

Obama’s choice of Delaware Sen. Joe Biden as running mate made 14% more likely to vote for the Democrat, 7% less likely.

• McCain’s acceptance speech Thursday received lower ratings than the one Obama gave a week earlier: 15% called McCain’s speech “excellent” compared with 35% for Obama.

WOW! Breaking News: Olbermann and Matthews Dropped MSNBC Anchor Chair

I truly can’t believe this.It appears that NBC has finally come to its senses and demoted Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann. In fact, these two could be on their way out the door. WOW! For those of use who watch the media types as much as we watch the politics and politicians, this is HUGE news. Olbermann has been an embarrassment for years.

MSNBC tried a bold experiment this year by putting two politically incendiary hosts, Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews, in the anchor chair to lead the cable news channel’s coverage of the election. [...]

After months of accusations of political bias and simmering animosity between MSNBC and its parent network NBC, the channel decided over the weekend that the NBC News correspondent and MSNBC host David Gregory would anchor news coverage of the coming debates and election night. Mr. Olbermann and Mr. Matthews will remain as analysts during the coverage.

The change — which comes in the home stretch of the long election cycle — is a direct result of tensions associated with the channel’s perceived shift to the political left.

The most disappointing shift is to see the partisan attitude move from prime time into what’s supposed to be straight news programming,” said Davidson Goldin, formerly the editorial director of MSNBC and a co-founder of the reputation management firm DolceGoldin.

Readers are encouraged to review the entire piece, as it seems people chanting “NBC, NBC” on Wednesday when vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin referred to media bias during her speech at the Republican National Convention, as well as comments Olbermann made Thursday evening concerning a segment dealing with 9/11, were the straws that broke the camel’s back.

It goes without saying that this is indeed a happy day for the country and journalism. Now, MSNBC should do he right thing and cancel the disgraceful “Countdown.”

It really only seems a matter of time.

Maybe most delicious, wouldn’t it be fitting if Palin’s comments Wednesday, along with the attendees’ responses, drove the final nails into Matthews and Olbermann’s coffins?

Olbermann Watch,
