Ghost Light: Thespis Glow

Ghost lights are an interesting theater superstition. The generally accepted definition of a ghost Light is “… a single bare-bulb lamp left burning in the middle of the stage all night.”

Enjoy Kristin and Idina singing one of the great Stephen Schwartz songs.

Ted Strickland: Do Nothing Education Governor

As far as we can tell, the OEA endorsed and supported Governor, Ted Strickland ,has done little or nothing for public education in Ohio. We were told that he would be a friend to public education. Now, three years later and two years into his term as Ohio’s Governor, we find out that Strickland will have a “conversation” with Ohioans about public education. The Governor plans to come out with his “education plan” in 2009, and no one knows when it will be enacted. Strickland appears to be just another politician with his own agenda: getting re-elected in 2010.

While Strickland postures and preens for the cameras, three more classes will have graduated from high school, districts scramble to fund operating expenses and capital projects, and the general miasma of day to day operations goes forward.

I’m guessing that we have little choice but to wait and see what Strickland comes up with next.

Rush Limbaugh Signs New Deal

Update: The Radio Equalizer, Brian Maloney, is ground zero for all the news and links about Rush.

You must read this extraordinary profile of Rush Limbaugh in the New York Times. There is a little controversy, but a lot of news.

Conservative radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh Wednesday inked an eight-year contract for around $400 million, underscoring how radio is spending big sums on bankable talent to compete in the crowded entertainment field.

Mr. Limbaugh’s compensation of $38 million a year, plus a signing bonus of about $100 million is less in absolute terms than the five-year, $500 million contract Howard Stern cut in 2004 with Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. But Mr. Limbaugh’s contract could net him more, as Mr. Stern must pay costs for his cast and production.

It’s a big jump from Mr. Limbaugh’s last contract, which at $285 million was a record for a radio personality when he signed it in 2001. Since then, the weekly audience for his three-hour midday show has held steady at about 20 million listeners, according to his syndicator, Clear Channel Communications Inc.’s Premiere Radio Networks. But advertisers are increasingly anxious to reach that audience. Read more »

New: And Not Improved

Barack Obama has flip-flopped on the Iraq war. Obama’s idea  to withdraw with in sixteen months has been thrown under the bus. You have to see the video of Michelle Malkin reporting on the situation. You won’t see this any of this covered like this in the mainstream media. Read it in the New York Times.

Rush Limbaugh has been saying for more than a year that whether Hillary or Obama are elected, there is no way that the United States is leaving Iraq immediately. What ever happened to “Change We Can Believe In?”
