Thespis Journal: Celebrating Two Years Today

fireworks2.jpg

Thanks to everyone who reads this blog. Unfortunately, time constraints make our blogging inconsistent. Sometimes posting is manic. Sometimes, around production times, things grow silent. It is still an adventure and rewarding when people read the posts.

Exactly two years ago today, I wrote this post to start it all. Two years later the drive-by media is still mis-using Katrina to bash President Bush. I made not of that same fact last year in our special one year blogiversary post. We have now had in excess of over 71,000 unique visitors to this site. One single post about Kiran Chetry of CNN is responsible for about 40% of that total. We are a small time blog. It doesn’t stop it from being rewarding.

This post represents the 100th post completed at Thespis Journal since my first day of blogging on September 5, 2005. Here’s what I said on that day: “I have been thinking today about the best way to celebrate this milestone. A lot has happened since the ridiculous mainstream media coverage of Hurricane Katrina, and the ridiculous proposals of “Reform Ohio Now” had me fuming enough to start my own blog. I was also looking for a method to share thoughts and writings on all things political and theatrical.” There are a lot of other links in that post.

There are now more than six hundred posts. Comments have slightly increased. A great detractor from this blog constantly says that no one is looking at the Blog since there are not a lot of comments. Comment and discussion is the not the primary purpose of our writing, but it is fun.

How To Know The Surge is Working

Last night, I caught a few minutes of Dan Abram on MSNBC. He was in histrionics over the fact that some good news is emerging from Iraq. He has some convoluted theory that President Bush and the supporters of the war have moved the bar again, and that they are having success. Despite the unrelenting call to end the war from the radical left and their co-conspirators in the drive-by media, the public is actually accepting that we might win, and that there is progress in Iraq. Abrams and Arianna Huffington looked distressed when Patrick Buchanan made a comparison to Lincoln at Gettysburg changing the goals of the war in his historic speech. It was great TV, and I wish I were a competant video blogger. Check out what Don Surber has to say about the surge working.

Petraeus reports to congress next week. He may call for a small troop draw down. Jay at Stop the ACLU says, “Lets make sure the left know the difference between “reduction based on need” and “retreat.” This redeployment is based upon success in the region and not the “cut and run” strategy long promoted by Jack Murtha.

More good news out of Iraq will change the dynamics of the much-to-early Presidential race. It will be interesting to see the democrat candidates respond next week. Arianna Huffington has assigned that the kook fringe base will still demand immediate withdraw
