Chris Wallace Slapdown of Bill Moyers

You have to watch this clip from Fox News Sunday. I saw this on Sunday morning, and then forgot about it while doing other reading and watching the Sunday News programs. Chris Wallace put the slapdown on foolish Bill Moyers of PBS. Moyers is a reactionary liberal who participates in the worst kind of propaganda/journalism. More at Hot Air.

  1. It makes for good TV, but not much more. Maybe Wallace should of asked Rove about his past statements, and contradictory reports.

    1) “The White House will miss his indubitable political acumen. What other agnostic could have mobilized hundreds of thousands of conservative Christians behind a political banner?” – San Antonio Express News, [8/14/07]

    2) “I could be wrong here, but I distinctly recall conversations with Rove friends who’ve told me that his struggles with faith did not lead him to Jesus Christ. Yet he knew and understood how to interact with (and manipulate, at times) the standard-bearers of the evangelical Right and the Catholic conservative intellectual elite…..” – The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder, [8/13/07]

    3) “[Rove] told his friend Bill Israel years ago that he was agnostic and that ‘he wished he could believe, but he cannot.’” – James Moore, co-author of Rove bio, Bush’s Brain, [8/13/07]

    4) “Rove once told a colleague that he had no religious affiliation and was ‘not a Christian.’” – James Moore and Wayne Slater in Bush’s Brain: How Karl Rove Made George W. Bush Presidential.

  2. Accusing Moyers of being reactionary while praising Wallace and Fox News????

    That’s rich.

  3. Moyers’ brand of “journalism” went out in the 1960’s…you know, the kind without facts-just general smear pieces.

Chris Wallace has an outstanding Sunday show and is first rate in the air. He shamed Moyers on Sunday, and that’s obvious from the video. I’m sure you watched it.

  4. Like Chris Wallace said, any NEWSMAN will go to the source. Karl was more than convincing in his answers. I’m sure you watched it.

  5. A good newsman, and not a paid propagandist like Wallace, views statements with an eye towards intent. Rove’s private statements to colleagues (as noted in comments above) which have been widely and repeatedly reported in many locations, have just as much, if not more authenticity, than a self-serving public statement.

If Wallace is such a damned good journalist, why didn’t he ask Rove to verify his church attendance? Can anyone attest to having attended church with Rove over a period of years?

Or does a good newsman simply accept Rove’s version of truth at face value?

Pretty shallow thinking here Thespis. And I think you’ll find most serious journalists would rate Moyers much more highly than Wallace, who is little more than an arm of the Bush administration.

  6. Have you watched Moyers recently? He is totally delusional! You call his unresearched “hit pieces” serious journalism?

Well, yes, liberal journalists dominate the drive-by media, but that does not make them “serious.”

The shallow thinking is all owned by you and Bill Moyers. Wallace presented facts. Moyers presented propaganda and called it fact.

You’re not allowed to ask direct questions, Thespis sets the agenda, anyone who wishes to comment must follow that agenda.

  8. Contrary to Tom’s narrow view of this situation, discerned from his clouded lens of the world, questions will be answered. The problem with the above stated question is that it has already been answered.

Really? Where is the answer to this question?

“If Wallace is such a damned good journalist, why didn’t he ask Rove to verify his church attendance?”

    Or this one?

“Can anyone attest to having attended church with Rove over a period of years?”

    Or this one?

“Or does a good newsman simply accept Rove’s version of truth at face value?”

You must have posted the answers elsewhere because they certainly don’t appear anywhere in this thread.

  10. Wallce thoroughly questioned Rove THE source. If you were that good at questioning, I’m sure Fox would hire you to sit in the chair.

You use an endless carousel of questions to TRY to get your point across. Like your firends at BWW, you try pointlessly to use questions as invective.

Wallace went to the source, Moyers did not. Moyers has succeeded in making PBS the Queen of tabloid liberal hit pieces.

If you had watched Wallace’s total interview (I know you don’t have to do that in your world) you would understand the thorough and diligent job he did in quizing Rove.

Moyers never asked Rove. He judged Rove as not having any faith on hearsay evidence. For liberals, hearsay is good enough. For Fox, facts matter.

  11. And still you don’t answer the questions, that you say have been answered.
