This article in the New York Times tells all about a new production of George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess which will open in London this Fall. Opening under the title, The Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, this newly re-imagined and re-created version of the landmark 1935 opera is being directed by Trevor Nunn. Perhaps sometime in the near future, Porgy and Bess will return to Broadway where it made its’ debut seventy-one years ago.
Highly recommended: The theater page at the New York Times has several fascinating articles including slide shows on the closing of The Light in the Piazza this Sunday, and more information on Pig Farm, an original play being presented by the Roundabout Theater.
Watch for upcoming television appearance of Bernadette Peters.
